Teknion Selects TechniCon for E-Commerce Solution

Teknion to Use TechniCon's CustomCommerce to Address Their Customers E-Procurement Needs
For Immediate Release
EMERYVILLE, CA, June 4, 2002-Teknion Corporation, an international leader in the design and manufacture of office systems and related furniture products, has selected TechniCon, a leading provider of e-commerce solutions, to develop custom online catalogs for its customers. Based on TechniCon's CustomCommerce technology, these catalogs will address Teknion's customers' need for e-commerce Web sites tailored to their unique furniture standards.
E-procurement - Opening up New Markets
In any business climate, strengthening the bottom line is critical. Reducing procurement costs is a good way to start. Using e-procurement systems from vendors such as Ariba and Commerce One, companies benefit from lower procurement costs, faster order processing and improved control over purchasing options.
For suppliers, online catalogs increase product exposure and up-sell opportunities. Up-to-date product data results in fewer order errors and product returns. Order processing costs are reduced through streamlined transactions.
"With CustomCommerce's e-procurement and custom catalog features, we can now target industry sectors that demand e-commerce solutions for furniture procurement," explains Jeff Kraus, Vice President of Sales Administration for Teknion.
To stand out from the many suppliers transacting on Commerce One and Ariba, Teknion will implement "punch out" sessions from their customers' procurement systems to e-catalogs containing customer-specific product lines, options, finishes and pricing.
During the "punch out" session, Teknion's customers will access full-featured product selection tools. Once items are selected, TechniCon's E-Procurement Connector will route the quote through the established requisition, approval and order process.
"Companies and dealers are looking for easier ways to order complex products like contract furniture," said Anthony Mirante, President of TechniCon. "By combining our advanced CustomCommerce software and e-procurement systems, customers can configure and select approved office furniture over the web."
Teknion's online catalogs will offer detailed product descriptions and images. Using CustomCommerce's interactive 3-D models and photo-realistic images, customers can view exactly how their furniture will appear before it is purchased.
"The custom catalogs will offload routine queries from our sales staff and allow us to make better use of our sales resources. Customers will find it easier to do their typical furniture orders and we can be more responsive to special requests," said Teknion's Jeff Kraus. "The data we collect will help us learn more about our customers' needs and industry trends."
