TechniCon Releases CustomCommerce Version 3.2

Latest Version Adds New Features and Enhancements to TechniCon's Industry-Leading E-Commerce Product
For Immediate Release
EMERYVILLE, CA, April 8, 2002 - TechniCon, a leading provider of e-commerce solutions for complex products, has released version 3.2 of its award-winning CustomCommerce application. CustomCommerce provides a flexible platform for delivering complex product data on the Web, making it simple for buyers to find the information they're looking for and order the products they need.
Among the many new features in version 3.2 are enhanced product search functions. The new advanced parametric search feature allows knowledgeable customers to set filters based upon a range of values to find the products that best meet their needs. Users can search for arbitrary combinations of parametric values, e.g. all actuators with a stroke > 50mm but with a bore < 10mm, and quickly obtain a list of compatible products.
New text search capabilities include "spelling match" and "stemming." With spelling match, a user searching for "solinoid" will see the message "Did you mean solenoid?" With stemming, a search can include items that contain alternative forms of the search terms. For example, a search for "actuator" can also return items that include "actuated" or "actuating."
Other enhancements include:
  • CustomCommerce now supports viewing technology from Kaon Interactive Inc. to generate ultra-high resolution photo-realistic 3D images, in addition to the previously available product visualization tools.
  • A "Favorites" function has been added to CustomCommerce's online catalog capabilities that allows users to save custom product configurations and commonly purchased items to a "favorites" page in order to easily select these items in future catalog visits.
  • CustomCommerce's on-demand printing capabilities now allow PDFs to be generated directly from online catalogs.
  • CustomCommerce's E-Procurement Connector now integrates with Oracle Exchange in addition to systems from Ariba and Commerce One.
"We listened hard to our customers about what capabilities were important to them," said Anthony Mirante, President of TechniCon. "With this new release, we gave our customers the features they asked for and more."
