Turning product layouts into product sales

For many products sold to the architectural, engineering and construction markets, product layout is product specification. Devices are placed in a drawing and then counted to get a quote.

Using Technicon’s VisNet tool running in a Web browser, lighting designers can drag and drop fixtures, wall controls and sensors from an online catalog into a 2D layout area and automatically generate order-ready bills of materials for a project.

Floor plans can be uploaded as backgrounds for a layout. Lighting patterns and sensor coverage areas can be displayed allowing specifiers to visually validate their product placement.

Office planners can specify furniture orders. Rules and attributes associated with products ensure valid specifications. Only compatible components can be placed together, such as matching corner and side workstation units.

Electrical engineers can layout power systems. Connections from a fixture to a power panel can be automatically drawn or interactively specified. Constraints limit the devices that can be connected to the panel.

Technicon’s online layout solutions enable specifiers and manufacturers' reps to collaborate on layouts across the Web. Manufacturers no longer need to interpret poorly marked-up plans and sketches from customers.

The end result: shorter sales cycles and more satisfied customers.
