Technicon has deployed online catalog, layout and submittal generation systems for leading electrical manufacturers including Acuity Brands Lighting, Crestron, Lutron Electronics and Sensata Technologies.

Rules-based configuration, assembly and layout tools enable system users to configure a relay card, add it and other components to a panel assembly and drag-and-drop the panel into an online layout. Devices are connected on-the-fly as they’re added to the layout.

Sensor ranges can be displayed as shaded regions, allowing users to visually validate sensor coverage. Sizing tools determine if bus supplies or expansion modules are required based on device counts and load factors. Segments are checked for missing components.

Once products have been specified for a project, bills of materials, equipment schedules and one line drawings are dynamically generated for inclusion in submittal packages. CAD and BIM files can be delivered for all products in the equipment list.

A single source of product data and rules drives these applications. Managed using Technicon’s Web-based ContentStudio editor, business users such as product managers can maintain their own product information.

For Acuity Brands Lighting, this central repository of product data does double-duty when exported to Adobe InDesign® to generate print-quality cut-sheets and product selection guides. Acuity further leverages this data to populate online catalogs on their public Web sites.
