SELECTION TOOLS

TechniCon recognizes that purchasers of complex products need more than one way to find and specify items.

CustomCommerce provides five primary selection methods:
  • Parametric search allows customers to select a few key product attributes, such as an office desk with an 11 square-foot desktop and a two-drawer pedestal, and quickly obtain a list of compatible products.

If no products satisfy the selected parameters, the system can return a table of "near-matches," i.e. products that meet some subset of the parameters.
  • Keyword text searches are performed throughout product documentation to find products. If keywords are misspelled, the search checks for similar words to find results.

Stemming is also supported to search for alternative forms of a keyword. For example, a search for "actuator" returns results for "actuated" or "actuating."
  • Industry-specific wizards guide customers through specific design processes.

For example, a factory design engineer needs a pneumatic device that moves a 10-pound object three feet between two conveyor belts. The "wizard" analyzes this need and suggests appropriate products
  • .
  • Direct specification selection allows customers to simply enter a complete or partial product name or number.

Part numbers can be cross-referenced, allowing customers to find a product using their own part numbers or naming convention or using a competitor's part number.
  • Buyers can also browse through online catalogs organized via easy-to-understand hierarchical data trees.
CustomCommerce's selection tools combine with TechniCon's award-winning product visualization tools so customers can see the exact product they've selected. When customers know they've selected the right product, they can order with confidence.
