Application Servers
Many companies are benefiting today from the use of application servers to provide scalable, secure and high-performance application environments.TechniCon's products can be deployed on J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) compliant application servers, such as BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere.
Web Servers
ContentStudio and CustomCommerce run in Microsoft, Linux and UNIX environments. Systems are typically deployed on a Windows server using IIS for Web and application services. The database and any CAD software can typically be run on the Web server.Supported Web server software includes Apache, IIS, JRun HTTP Server, Sun ONE and Netscape.
Minimum recommended server hardware: 2GHz Intel processor (or equivalent SPARC processor), 2GB memory, 36 GB storage.
Databases
CustomCommerce data is stored in a standard relational database, allowing the Web site to be dynamically updated as products change and new products become available. Supported databases include DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server.Internationalization (i18n)
CustomCommerce applications support local languages, currencies and date formats. CustomCommerce's database-driven architecture promotes the use of dynamically retrieved text elements and minimizes the use of hard-coded text messages and labels. All TechniCon applications are built on Unicode-compliant platforms.Client Workstations ContentStudio and CustomCommerce are designed to operate in an Internet browser environment and require no client-side software installation. The recommended browser versions for ContentStudio are Internet Explorer 6 and Netscape/Mozilla 6+.
Drawing Engines
By supporting a variety of drawing engines, the performance of CustomCommerce's product visualization features can be optimized based on criteria such as typical customer Web connection speeds, underlying CAD data formats and image quality requirements.Custom catalogs generated from the same catalog repository can utilize different drawing engines as appropriate for their specific applications.
TechniCon uses model and view generation technology from such innovative companies as Kaon, Lattice3D, Mental Images, SolidWorks and TechSoft America.
